Our History
Founded in 1909 as a sawmill timbering over 7,700 acres in the Allegheny Mountains, Boswell Lumber Company has weathered the test of time. Fires in 1958, 1964, and again in 1987 destroyed major parts of the operation, but each time the company rebuilt and adapted. Over the decades, Boswell expanded to include a planing mill, retail building supply, dry kilns, and a flooring mill.
Today, located on the original mill site 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Boswell Lumber Co. is a full-service planing mill and the proud home of Short Tree Products.
Our Products
We specialize in high-quality architectural mouldings, millwork, and S4S products. With over 140 moulding profiles in stock, a massive inventory of raw lumber in multiple species, and the ability to create custom moulding in-house, we’re equipped to meet your needs, whether it’s a quick shipment or a completely custom solution.
Our extensive library of knives and in-house grinding capabilities lets us match an existing profile from a sample or drawing, or create something entirely new from scratch.
One of our proudest achievements is our line of Short Tree Products, manufactured right here at Boswell Lumber. When you see the Short Tree sign, know you’re looking at a mark of quality, craftsmanship, and reliability you can trust.
